Bulkheads & Sides Cut

Attaching Sides

  • Make all bulkheads first
  • 1/4" Exterior plywood
  • 3/4" beveled pine frame
  • Titebond II glue
  • 3/4" Silicon bronze RS nails
  • Secure sides to #2 bulkhead
  • PL Premium adhesive
  • Use 1" SS deck screws to hold sides in place
  • Finish with 1" Silicon bronze RS nails

 

 

Transom

Finished Pointy Skiff

  • Attach all bulkheads working forward, then work aft finish with transom
  • Attach transom to sides
  • PL Premium
  • 1" SS screws
  • 1" Silicon bronze RS nails

 

  • All outside seams--chines, transom edges, bow, butt joints are sealed 3" fiberglass tape & epoxy
  • Finish 2 coats Painter's Touch exterior latex primer, 3 topcoats of Painter's Touch exterior latex finish color
  • Sand between each coat
  • Inside--3 coats of Marine spar varnish, first coat thinned 1:2
