Yooper Canoe Paddle

Buy a 1" x 10' PVC Schedule 40 plastic pipe and cut it into three pieces 40" long.  That way you can make three paddles without wasting materials.  You'll need one 1" PVC tee per paddle for handle.  Three 10/24 x 2" RH bolts with lock nuts.  A 1/4" scrap piece of of exterior plywood about 7" x 22", taper plywood from 7" wide to about the width of a quart can.  Coat plywood with Marine varnish.  Cut 1/4" slot in PVC pipe about 10" in on one end.  Sand pipe and tee fitting with 220 grit sandpaper.  Fit plywood in slot and drill three holes all the way through about 3 1/2" apart.  Secure plywood with bolts, assemble tee with PVC solvent.  Grab your canoe, PFD and head for your favorite lake!
